The current owner’s father did all of the woodwork and brass himself. This vehicle belonged to a museum in Arkansas for at lest 15 years before being purchased by current owner.  A variation in design of the Model-T, this car was intended to transport passengers and their belongings at busy train stations throughout the nation.  Built for function and economy of operation, it features a 4 cylinder, 20hp engine and a simple planetary transmission operated by foot pedals.  The horn and lights were powered by a magneto.  Wide open, it could reach a top speed of 42mph with 28 miles per gallon gas mileage.  Henry Ford developed the assembly line technique for the construction of the Model-T chassis.  Independent contractors would then build the body.  These efforts to cut the cost of production were so successful that by 1919 sixty percent of all motor vehicles in America and one half of all cars operating in the world were Model-T Fords.  The price of the Model-T Ford Depot Hack Express in 1917 was $800.
