BEING SOLD WITH TITLE
This 1953 Puma was the brainchild of New Zealander, Frank Cantwell, who is said to have built 6 of these cars and raced them many times over the years. Two are now known to exist according to the seller, and this one was imported into the USA in 2003. The PUMA has a truly unique and one-of-a-kind body. It came with its own chassis design, a beautiful fiberglass body, with power coming from an Austin-sourced engine which is an Austin A35 948cc 4cyl engine’s with Austin A35 running gear. This PUMA’s latest power comes from a Ford Cortina with a big Weber and header and mated to a manual gearbox with close ratios. The body has also been modified from its original state as it now features flared and wider rims.
It has had a recent service and had been part of a predominate collection for the last 8 years. One of only 2 produced for Cantwell and the sole remaining Puma race car in the world.
