Flat track racer, dealer, and motorcycle/mini-bike collector Denny “Kannonball” Kannenberg’s collection recently hit the auction block at NO RESERVE in Auburn, Indiana thanks to Discovery Channel celebrity Richard Rawlings of Fast N Loud and Gas Monkey Garage. Touted as one of the most significant motorcycle collections to ever come to auction at one time, the 165 lot count was certainly impressive.
The collection included a wide variety of the 2 wheel genres including street bikes, mini and pit bikes, racing and street bikes, as well as some ultra rare cruisers. The auction also included some sought after memorabilia, toys, signs, etc… One of the star jewels of the auction was the infamous 1969 Kawasaki 500 III nicknamed the “Widow Maker” with only 2 miles showing on the odometer.
Acquiring a collection such as this is no easy feat, but JD Pass, owner of TheVaultMS.com, was in his element when he took home 40 pieces of the 165 piece collection. JD said, “I wanted to buy these bikes and be able to share them with the world to enjoy.” JD said several of these bikes hold a nostalgic memory coming from his childhood. He shared how he remembered bikes like the 1970 Fox Mini Bike being something he always wanted growing up. His hope is that he can now share this incredible collection to the world and continue to grow the hobby of mini-bikes and motorcycles with other collectors and enthusiasts. JD’s 35+ years in the collector car and auction world has given him a good eye as he saw the opportunity to buy a 1953 Harley Davidson KR and a 2004 Honda CB50R still boxed and in its crate.
The 40 lot haul is not just impressive, but a motorsports lover’s dream. Theres a motorcycle here for just about anyone and every type of riding. The collection is now housed safely in Jackson, Mississippi at TheVaultMS.com They make their place along side some of the world’s greatest and rarest Muscle Cars, Exotic Cars, and Classic Cars inside one of the largest collector car showrooms.
