The Bricklin SV1 is a car that was designed to offer unparalleled safety whilst maintaining a beautiful look. Many car companies complained about safety regulations ruining their styling but Bricklin was determined to integrate safety design. As a result the SV1 of ”Safety Vehicle 1” was born. The most promising safety design is the front bumper that can absorb impacts up to 10 MPH without any damage being obtained from said impact. Another interesting feature is the fact that these cars are not painted, but rather the acrylic panels are a solid color so that scratches can be sanded out. The SV1 is powered by a Ford 351ci Windsor V8 paired to a 3 speed automatic transmission. There were only 2,900 built in a two year period and there are fewer than 1,500 known to exist. This unique example is mechanically sorted and has several major upgrades performed by Bricklin specialists Classic Auto Restorations in Riverside, including Pneumatic door system upgrade, Wireless door control, upgraded pneumatic pump and cylinder, custom SV1 embroidered pneumatic covers, upgraded carbon fiber dash, digital sport gauges, and an upgraded center console.
