Three developmental prototypes, each starting as a production Mustang, were used in the design, engineering, and development of the historic 2008 Cobra Jet. This example was 1 of 3 prototypes completed, it began life as a red 2005 V6 Mustang. This Cobra Jet came from Ford’s powertrain calibration group, at the direction of Brian Wolfe, who was shortly after appointed as the director of Ford Racing. The once red Mustang became the “mule” for testing every component on the car and was rewarded with the serial number M01. Powering the beast is a 5.4L supercharged V8 producing 400 horsepower through a 6 speed manual transmission. The prototypes were used in the Cobra Jet media launch that started with the 2008 Sema show. The Cobra Jets were run at the 2008 NHRA finale at Pomona where Bob Tasca III and John Force managed to run a 10.8 quarter mile in a car they had never driven before. This example has been fully documented with the proper documentation to prove that this is the M01 car, a flash drive was included from Ford Performance documenting the entire build of the Cobra Jet! Do not miss the opportunity to buy a piece of Ford racing history that brought back the Cobra Jet movement…what a rare example now available for the next!
